The 51st annual symposium of the Kettil Bruun Society (KBS), held in Kaunas from 1–5 June, became a significant event not only for Lithuania but also for the international alcohol research and public health community. For the first time in the Baltic States, the conference brought together more than 150 researchers, scientists, and policy experts from over 25 countries to discuss the latest evidence on alcohol consumption, alcohol-related harm, and effective alcohol control policies.

STAT (USA) - Drinking during pregnancy rose after 2020, new CDC data suggest
New data released Thursday suggest the prevalence of drinking during pregnancy increased in recent years. National survey data published in a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report show about 15% of adult pregnant women reported current drinking (use in the prior 30 days) between 2021 and 2024. About 13.5% of women reported the same between 2018 and 2020.

The study of over 530 alcohol product labels sold in the UK – the biggest study of its kind to date – found that basic nutrition and health information, such as units of alcohol, ingredients, and health and pregnancy warnings, was inconsistent or wholly absent from labels, leaving consumers without important information about what is in their drinks and the associated health risks.
